- In an official statement from IMF it was declared that Indian economy is expected to grow faster than other major emerging economies. Growth Projection for India stands at 7.5 per cent in 2016 against China’s 6.3 per cent.
- A three-member Committee chaired by former Secretary General of the Lok Sabha PDT Achary, in its report submitted to Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, on Tuesday, favoured a 400 per cent hike in the basic salary of the Capital’s MLAs — from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 50,000 per month — in addition to a slew of other allowances.
- Six persons have been arrested for the theft of a consignment of 600 high-end mobile phones worth Rs 1 crore from the cargo hub of the Delhi airport in July. Police said that as many as 200 mobile phones were later sold to customers across India, allegedly through Flipkart. The IGI Police have sent a notice to Flipkart, asking it to join probe and clarify how stolen phones were being sold to customers through its website without verification.
- Japanese scientist Takaaki Kajita and Canadian physicist Arthur B McDonald have won the Nobel prize in Physics 2015 "for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass".
- Russian jets hit ISIS targets in the Syrian city of Palmyra and the northern province of Aleppo, The strikes destroyed 20 vehicles and three weapons depots in ISIS-held Palmyra.
- An image of India-Pakistan border taken from the International Space Station (ISS) by NASA shows one of the few places on the Earth, where an international boundary can be seen all lit by security lights at night.
