  • Nearly simultaneous explosions targeted a Turkish peace rally Saturday in Ankara, killing at least 97 people and wounding scores in Turkey's deadliest attack in years. Suicide bombers stuck the Pro Kurdish and labor activists outside Ankara's main train station.
  • The CBI on Saturday conducted raids at residences and offices of flamboyant liquor baron Vijay Mallya and his now-grounded Kingfisher Airlines in connection with a Rs.900 crore loan to the airline by IDBI bank and now declared a non-performing asset.
  • In a major boost for ruling Trinamool Congress ahead of next year's assembly polls, the party on Saturday scored landslide victory in violence-marred elections to Bidhannagar and Asansol Municipal Corporations and wrested Bally civic body from the Left Front. 
  • Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will not be attending PM Modi's functions in Mumbai on Sunday as he will be away in Marathwada to review the drought situation there. Modi will be in the city to lay the foundation stone for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's memorial at Indu Mills in Dadar and to conduct 'bhoomi pujan' for two new Metro lines.
  • Israeli security forces on Saturday shot dead two Palestinians aged 12 and 15 in protests along Gaza's border fence. Israeli security forces have arrested around 400 Palestinians since the October 1 outbreak of violence in the occupied West Bank and annexed east Jerusalem. Approximately half of them were aged 14-20 and 100 were arrested in east Jerusalem, the Palestinian group said.
