- The 'Nawab of Nazafgarh' Virender Sehwag, announced retirement from all form of the international cricket and IPL on Tuesday. Shewag is the first and only Indian player to score triple century in test matches and he is one among only four players in world who scored triple century twice in their career. Shewag also holds record for fastest triple century.
- A Delhi court on Tuesday convicted the Uber cab driver for raping a 25-year-old women executive in his taxi and endangering her life in December last year. The court said the detailed judgment would be made available on October 23 after pronouncement of sentence. It had reserved the verdict on October 7 with today's verdict. Yadav faces a maximum of life term which under the relevant provision means imprisonment till his remaining natural life.
- Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has convened an emergency cabinet meeting as protests continued for seventh day in various parts of the state against the alleged desecration of Sikh holy books. Paramilitary forces were also deployed in Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
- Indian Cricketer Amit Mishra was summoned by the Bengaluru police on Tuesday for questioning, after he was booked for the alleged sexual assault of a woman in his hotel room in the city last month.

- The biggest steel maker in Britain may cut 1200 UK jobs as part of restructuring. The steel major is planning to halt steel plate production which will lead to these many jobs cuts from different sites.
